Newsletter Issue #2 - February 2025
We recently conducted the 3 wishes campaign, and got almost 400 wishes from residents.
We are now carrying out a community wide consultation which is face to face and online. This will allow us to complete the Local Place Plan and submit it to North Lanarkshire Planning Department for registration.
We are pleased to announce this event for the Local Place Plan and will coincide with the Boys Brigade afternoon Coffee event. We are delighted they have allowed us to join their fundraising event. The Consultation will be held at Gartcosh Church Hall on Sat 8th (1.30pm-4pm) and then Sun 9th (end of Sunday service around 11.15am - 2pm) of March.
Representatives from Gartcosh Development Trust - as the anchor organisation for this plan - and the Coalfield Regeneration Trust will be in attendance to explain the next steps of the process and to offer help in completing the next piece of feedback required to support our Local Place Plan.
This consultation is critical, and the only opportunity to get involved and have your say in the future of how land is used in our community and the other local services that will make Gartcosh a sustainable place - please attend if you are able.
An online version of the consultation will be available shortly - but it would be great to see you at the event and support the BBs at the same time.
We have some great news about the improvements planned for Gartcosh Memorial Park. Thanks to generous funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Town Centre Fund (managed by North Lanarkshire Council), and the incredible support from our community through last year's Crowdfunder campaign, we are moving forward with making the park a better place for everyone.
We are rolling out the first phase of the park improvements, which have begun this week. This stage will bring several key upgrades:
Additional improvements include more green spaces and seating areas to make the park a welcoming space for families, dog walkers, and nature lovers.
We need your help to make this project a success. Volunteers can assist with:
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and take pride in transforming a public space. We will be announcing volunteer days over the course of the next few months - If you'd like to be notified, leave your details here:
At the end of last year, we launched the Gartcosh Development Trust Lottery, a fantastic way to support local projects while having the chance to win amazing prizes!
If you haven't signed up yet, don't miss out! Find out more and get your tickets at:

If the Lottery is not your thing, our Crowdfunder campaign is still open.
